The Rise of the Internet of Things
In an age where connectivity is everything, the Internet of Things (“IoT”) has become one of the fastest-growing technology segments.
The IoT is a web of physical objects and appliances that use the Internet to connect with other machines as well as the external environment — think smart refrigerators, wireless home audio systems and mobile surveillance systems.
Although the IoT has been around for a few years, the recent consumerization and growth of the space has drawn the attention of consumers, journalists, and dealmakers. As such, M&A activity in the sector has followed suit. According to research by CB Insights, M&A activity in the Internet of Things grew 45% from 2012 to 2013.
Recently, Alan Canzano and Elgin Thompson of Marcum Cronus Partners hosted a webinar discussing the current state of the Internet of Things and the potential for dealmakers across all industries. Below are four must-watch clips from the webinar.
