Product Update: Search for Exact Matches in our Industry Taxonomy

We launched our brand new industry taxonomy several weeks ago, moving from 160 to over 18,000 industry categories. On the sell-side, this massive update allows you to more accurately describe the deals you’re bringing to market, so you can receive smarter recommendations of buyers and investors to connect with. On the buy-side, it allows you to specify exactly what you’re interested in sourcing on Axial’s platform so you can get the most relevant deal flow.

Since then, we’ve continued to make improvements to the new industry taxonomy to help make your experience easier and more efficient. Our latest update allows you to put the term you’re searching for in quotes to pull exact matches from the taxonomy.

How it works

Now:

You can search for a term like “physical therapy“ in quotes for an exact match in the taxonomy. This transforms the search experience by allowing you to be much more efficient when looking for something specific.

Before:

If you searched a term like physical therapy it would pull all the nodes in the taxonomy tree that applied to physical or therapy. For example:
